چکیده

Paraprosthetic regurgitation occurs in approximately 7%–17% of patients undergoing mitral valve replacement and 2%–10% of patients undergoing aortic valve replacement1,2. Typically, this regurgitation is discrete and does imply major clinical complications; however, when it is moderate or severe, the consequences can be serious, leading to heart failure and/or hemolysis3,4. It is estimated that approximately 1%–5% of cases develop to more clinically severe conditions1,4. The main causes of paraprosthetic regurgitation are calcification of the valvular annulus, infection, suture technique, and size and shape of the prosthesis1,5.

اثر PercutaneousCoronary Intervention Elective بر بهبودی نارسایی ایسکمیک میترال

Introdution: Ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) remains one of the most complex and unresolved aspects of ischemic heart disease that the impact of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on improvement of intensity of ischemic mitral regurgitation is not well clarified. Patients with coronary artery diseases and ischemic mitral regurgitation have a worse prognosis than the patients with coro...

SHORT TERM CLINICAL OUTCOME OF PERCUTANEOUS BALLOON MITRAL VALVULOPLASTY VERSUS SURGICAL CLOSED MITRAL COMMISSUROTOMY

BaIlon mitral valvuloplasty and closed mitral valve conunissurotomy were performed in 450 and 127 patients, respectively. Also, 254 patients with severe mitral stenosis were enrolled in a prospective randomized trial comparing the two procedures. Immediately after balloon mitral valvuloplasty, mean left atrial pressure was 11.38±3.54 mmHg, transmitral valve gradient was 1.8±2 mmHg, and mit...

Role of echocardiography and phonocardiography in diagnosis of mitral paraprosthetic regurgitation with Starr-Edwards prostheses.

Twenty-three patients who were symptomatic after mitral valve replacement, and in whom mitral paraprosthetic regurgitation was a possible cause of deterioration, were investigated by cardiac catheterization, phonocardiography, and echocardiography. Severe paraprosthetic regurgitation was present in ii patients and slight regurgitation in 2 patients. Two patients had aortic regurgitation which w...

Aortic valve replacement and mitral valve repair as treatment of complications after percutaneous core valve implantation.

CLINICAL SUMMARY We describe the case of a 66-year-old man who had surgical intervention for a core valve malfunction 3 months after transfemoral implantation. The patient was scheduled for percutaneous aortic valve implantation (PAVI) because of the presence of numerous risk factors, such as obesity (body mass index, 35%) and myelodysplasia. The main concern about elective standard aortic valv...
